Quilts of Valor presented at Augustfest to Robert Pemble and Dennis Ball on Aug. 11
The Mt. Morris Pine Tree Needlers Quilt Guild presented Quilts of Valor to Veterans Robert Pemble and Dennis Ball at Augusfest in Wautoma on Aug. 11.
Karen Wenninger, presented the Quilts of Valor first to Robert Pemble, who served in the Wisconsin Air National Guard starting in 1948. He then went on to active duty with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Bob was based at Dow Air Force Base in Bangor, Maine, with the Air Defense Command. He retired from the WI Air National Guard in Sept. 1964, as a Captain.
“On behalf of the Quilts of Valor Foundation, Bob, welcome home, and thank you for allowing us to recognize you,” Wenninger said.
The second recipient was Dennis Ball. Denny served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1959 as a Specialist E5. Some of his duties consisted of wiring, and switchboard hookups. Denny did his basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. He then went to serve at Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey, Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, Fort Riley Kansas, and finally at the West Point Academy, New York.
“We honor you for leaving all you hold dear to serve, whether in time of crisis or in time of peace. This Quilt of Valor says thank you for your service, sacrifice, and valor in serving our nations,” Wenninger concluded.
