Kiwanis 5K Run/Walk for Autism set for May 2
The Wautoma Kiwanis will be hosting its 4th annual Spring Autism 5K Fun Walk/Run at 7:30 a.m. on May 2. The event will be held in conjunction with Waushara County’s Health Department Community Safety Day. All proceeds from this event will go to benefitthe children in the community on the autism spectrum by supplying iPads and iTunes cards for software specificto their immediate development needs. Since March 2013, Wau-toma Kiwanis has raised funds and have donated 46 iPads to area children on the spectrum. All recipients come from referrals from the local school districts. Toddlers through high school students have received the benefitof this Wautoma Kiwanis iPad program. The run/walk route begins and ends at the south parking lot of the Waushara County Courthouse, 209 S. Saint Marie Street, Wautoma, WI 54982. The event offers free activities and resource exhibits designed especially for families with preschool through elementary age children. Review various safety topics as a family that include: bike safety (inspection and rodeo), sun safety, firesafety, boat safety, and food safety. Interact with local law enforcement and EMS staff.
