HCE Education program on First Ladies to be held Oct. 25

There will be an HCE Education program on the topic of the First Ladies of the United States on Thursday, Oct. 25 at 6 p.m. at the Waushara County Courthouse, Wautoma.

Many American women have held the unofficial (and unpaid) office of First Lady, each bringing her own unique interpretation of the role. Some have remained in the background, while others have taken an active role in government. Who are these amazing women, and what is the legacy they leave behind for their successors as well as our democracy?

The guest speaker of the night will be Marilyn Herman. Marilyn is Professor Emeritus with the University of Wisconsin, and she blends her interest in history with family and community issues. Marilyn is now an active HCE member in Waupaca County after serving 40 years as a Family and Youth Educator in Sauk, Rock, Brown, and Waupaca Counties in Wisconsin and the seven-county metro area of Minnesota.

This event will be held on Thursday, Oct. 25 at 6 p.m. in the Demo room of the Waushara County Courthouse. Make sure to use the south entrance upon arrival. All are welcome to attend, but you must register by calling 920-787-0416.
