Beth Lucht to present repurposed rugs using Newcomb Loom at Wautoma Area Christian Women’s Club on Monday, Sept.16
Wautoma Area Christian Women’s Club is extending an invitation to area residents to enjoy the cooler days of fall with a luncheon, talented guest and inspirational speaker. An invitation is extended regardless of religious affiliation. Join us on Monday, Sept. 16, at noon at the Silvercryst Restaurant and Supper Club, Wautoma, for a delicious lunch and then sit back and enjoy the afternoon.
Have you heard of a Newcomb Loom? If so, then you will appreciate the treasure that Beth Lucht is blessed to have. Beth Lucht of Wild Rose inherited the loom when her mother passed and the loom has been out of production for many years. The loom is used to repurpose old rugs, where the warp has worn out. Beth then reweaves it to make the rug look like new. Beth also uses clothing to make “memory” rugs using items from loved ones who have passed away. In previous years Beth’s husband was her partner and helper, cutting material and accompanying her to local craft shows. Beth will be showing pictures of the loom and explaining how it works. She will display her rugs and whimsical knitted fish hats that are very popular.
