By finishing second at the WIAA Winneconne Sectional Cross Country Meet on Oct. 24, the Wautoma/Wild Rose Girls Cross Country team advanced to the 2020 WIAA Division 2 State Cross Country Meet.

Winneconne won the girls team competition while the Hornet/Wildcat runners edged out Omro and Madison Edgewood to secure second place.  The top two teams in each sectional advance to the WIAA State Meet, which will be held at Colby High School this coming Saturday, Oct. 31.  This is the first girls team from any sport from either Wautoma or Wild Rose to qualify for state tournament competition since the inception of girl’s interscholastic athletics at the schools in the early 1970’s.

Mya Bahr led the Hornet/Wildcat harriers with a fourth place finish with a time of 20:04 for 5000 meters.  Teagan Reitz finished 12th, Madylyn Woyak 19th, Laney Havlovitz 27th, Megan Miller 29th, Laney Panich 30th, and Jaidyn Knueppel 36th.

The Division 2 Boy’s and Girl’s State Cross Country Meet will be run at Colby High School, while Division I will be run in Hartland, and Division 3 in West Salem.  All three meets will be run on Saturday, Oct. 31.
