On Nov. 8 the South Central Conference volleyball coaches met in Adams-Friendship to determine the All-Conference Teams. This year three players were recognized for the Hornets, Ava Stahl-Second Team, Harleigh Eagan-First Team, and Hattie Bray-First Team and SCC Player of the Year.

Coach Phillips’ made the following comments on the All-Conference Winners:

“I’m so proud of Ava Stahl for receiving Second Team honors this year. With her speed and her all-in mentality, Ava has been a leader for the Hornets in the back row, compiling 107 digs, which is the highest in our program and second in the conference. Ava is a tough kid who stepped into a big role this year and performed for us in both our serve receive as well as in our attack defense. I can’t wait to see what this young athlete can do for our program in the future.

Our senior setter and captain, Harleigh Eagan received unanimous votes from the conference rewarding her with First Team Honors. Harleigh’s strengths on the court lie in her aggressive jump float serve and her ability to place the ball efficiently for her hitters to be successful. She has tallied up 47 aces this season; with those numbers, she is ranked seventh in Division 2 and 22nd in the state. As a setter, she has racked up 267 assists, which has her ranked 11th in Division 2 and 44th in the state. I am continuously impressed with Harleigh’s competitiveness and her ability to motivate her teammates to play to the best of their abilities in both practices and games. She is not only a phenomenal setter but a great kid who will be greatly missed next season.

Hattie Bray is a four-year varsity player, a two-year captain, and one heck of a volleyball player. For the second year in a row, Hattie has been recognized with First Team All-Conference honors, as well as SCC Player of the Year Award. Hattie played all the way around for the Hornets this season, being a threat on the net and in the back row. Hattie’s impressive 202 kills in our short season has her ranked third in Division 2 and 13th in the state for that stat. Hattie is one of the most coachable young athletes I have had the pleasure of coaching. With her undeniable talent, her will to win, and her passion for the game, I have no doubt that she has a bright future in her collegiate endeavors. After being a dominant player in our program for the past four years, it will be hard to see her go, but she has left a lasting impression on this program.”
