The Ladycats neared the end of their regular volleyball season in a tough matchup with the Pacelli Lady Cardinals on Oct. 13.

“We have to give all the credit to Pacelli,” commented Wild Rose Head Coach Jason Kirby. “Their libero is probably the best in the state, and the setter is probably one of the best too.”

The visitors had jumped out to a 10-1 lead in the first game of the match, and it was hard for the hosts to catch up. Olivia Eagan came up with a three-point service run for Wild Rose, 10-16, but Pacelli received a six-point service run from Katrina Gendusa, with a couple of aces, to seal a 25-12 win for the Lady Cardinals.

The Ladycats had a brief 2-0 lead to start the second game behind Olivia Soper serves, before Pacelli took over a little at a time. The score was tied three times before the visitors started pulling away. Molly Lawlis served up a five-point run for a 12-6 Pacelli lead. The game was finished off with a nine-point service run from the Lady Cardinals libero for a 25-9 win.

Pacelli’s libero carried the Lady Cardinals into the third game of the match with a four-point service run to start things off. Emma Van Order continued the lead with a three-point service run for an 8-1 advantage. A short time later Lawlis added a three-point service for a 13-3 lead. The libero went on to finish the game and match with a six-point service run for a 25-7 Lady Cardinal win.
