PAUL D. LUCE

Subhead

Paul D. Luce, age 84, of Wild Rose, passed away at home on Saturday, January 8, 2022.  He was born January 25, 1937 in Ruby, WI to Oscar and Myna (Johnson) Luce.  Paul grew up in Cornell where he met his future bride, Rogene Webster.  On July 27, 1957, Paul wed his sweetheart and they lived in South Milwaukee where Paul worked many years as a maintenance man at Appleton Electric.

Paul and Rogene moved to Wild Rose in 1969 and Paul worked at the Waupaca Foundry from which he retired in 1997.  Other jobs Paul had throughout his life include school bus driver and bar owner/operator.

Paul enjoyed sports and competition and he started the Waushara County men’s pool league.  He enjoyed facilitating, participating in, and winning billiards tournaments.  He also sponsored many softball teams over the years and managed the Wild Rose Little League.

Friends and family will remember Paul’s sense of humor and his willingness to help others.  Paul was always ready for a laugh, even at his own expense, and his smile could be infectious.  Fond memories his grandchildren have include camping at the land and fast motorcycle rides.  His mechanical abilities were always at the ready to help his granddaughter change her car’s oil or work on his classic Volkswagen, which he passed down to his grandson Josh.

Paul loved the social life of tavern ownership, and no matter which side of the bar he was on, he was always ready to meet a new friend.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Myna (Johnson) Luce; brothers: Harvey, Clyde, Elmer and Jerry Luce; sisters: Annie Lesik and Helen King; and daughter-in-law, Dottie Luce.

He is survived by his wife, Rogene; sons: Scott (Sandy), Troy (Kandy) and Jay Luce, and Andy Stout; grandson, Joshua Luce; granddaughter, Rebecca Turner; great-grandson, Jesse Luce; and great-granddaughter, Rayna Turner.

A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday, January 15, at the Maple Crest Funeral Home, with Rev. John Roe officiating.  Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
