JOEL PETER KISTER

Joel Peter Kister, age 72, of Redgranite, formerly of Milwaukee, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at the Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh.

Joel was born October 4, 1947 in Milwaukee, a son of John and Margaret (Ruecktenwald) Kister.  Joel was raised in Milwaukee, and was a 1965 Graduate of Milwaukee Custer High School.  He was employed in the Parts Department at Holz Motors in Hales Corners until his retirement in December of 2018.

Joel served his country for six years in the 452nd, Army Reserve Unit in Milwaukee.

He married Margene C. Baker February 8, 1969 in Milwaukee. Margene his wife of 51 years survives.

Joel played the steel and acoustic guitar, and dabbled in writing his own music. Joel was an avid fisherman.

Survivors include his wife, Margene, a son, Chris Michael Kister of Redgranite, a daughter, Lisa (Dan) Bohn of West Bend, and four grandchildren, Dylan, Margaret, Joshua, and Zechariah.  Joel is also survived by his nephews, Scott and Ethan, sister-in-law, Sharon, other relatives, and good friends,

Joel was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jordan, who died in infancy, his parents, and his brother, Robert “Bob” Kister.

Funeral Services for Joel were held Monday, July 27. at 3 p.m. at the Ruminski Funeral Home in Redgranite.  Chaplain Michell Dvorak of Aurora Hospice officiated.  Entombment was Tuesday in the Garden of Eternal Life, Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield (Milwaukee).

Relatives and friends called from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, prior to the time of Services at the Ruminski Funeral Home in Redgranite.

Memorials are appreciated in Joel’s memory in place of flowers.
