Sweeps Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Wautoma, grab podium during BJJ Tournament

On May 28th, 16 members from Sweeps Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) of Wautoma, traveled to Wisconsin Dells to compete in a BJJ tournament hosted by Grappling Industries at Just A Game Fieldhouse.

Over 915 competitors from Wisconsin and beyond registered for the round robin style martial arts tournament. There were 12 different grapplers from Sweeps finished on the podium in Gi and No Gi competition.

 

Most competitors had an average of six fights while some had as many as 11 fights with 20 opponents in their division making a podium finish that more impressive.  When the tournament was complete the Sweeps team earned a total of five Golds, nine Silvers, and eight Bronze medals.

 

Sweeps BJJ Academy is coached by Wautoma native Efrain Rodriguez and his wife Danyce from Ohio.
