Hayley Sroka speaks at Wautoma Rotary Meeting

Subhead

Hayley Sroka, News Editor for the Waushara Argus, spoke to the Club members about her new position as the Editor.  Hayley grew up in the Waushara County area, living in Redgranite and is a 2019 graduate of Wautoma High School. Hayley’s biggest inspiration came early on from her grandmother, when she gave her granddaughter her first film camera. Combining writing and photography opened a whole new world of ideas.

Sroka’s first week at the Argus was anything but normal. The COVID-19 pandemic was just starting and there were cancellations upon cancellations. However, the Argus still needed to be written, she found that the residents of the area had really come together in a positive way when everything seemed unreal.

As the News Editor, she is responsible for editing stories and photos that are included in the weekly publication. Creating captions and naming all the people in the photos are also a big task. She is always looking for ideas for future news, feature articles and photos.

Sroka stated that the News Editor position has been a dream come true. She is looking forward to the future at the Argus. There are usually many activities occurring in the area and she hopes they will be able to continue in the time to come.

The Wautoma Rotary meets every Wednesday at noon at the Stahl Celebration and Remembrance Center east of Wautoma and on Zoom.  Rotary welcomes visitors and prospective new members to each meeting. Masks are required for the in person at this time.
