Black Hawk Folk Society features father-son duo Saturday, Aug. 22

Subhead

Black Hawk Folk Society’s streamed concert series continues this Saturday, Aug. 22, with Michael Lee Ammons and Joshua Ammons.   This father-son duo are members of The Water Street Hot Shots, an acoustic band known and loved for vintage style blues and roots music. Black Hawk folkies may happily recall the Water Street Hot Shots’ performance on our festival stage a few summers ago. Mike and Josh’s expertise on guitar, upright bass, harmonica, and vocals will conjure up vibes of Memphis Jug Band, Tampa Red, Muddy Waters, Blind Boy Fuller, and the like.

Their performance will live stream at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22. Log into Black Hawk’s Facebook page or website to enjoy this toe-tapping event.

Black Hawk Folk Society is a non-profit organization and is completely volunteer-driven.  BHFS’s mission is to promote and provide folk music to Wisconsin’s heartland, especially during the pandemic.  Donors and sponsors who make this possible include:  Conners/Barrett & Company, LLC; Louise Coumbe; The Frey Family Foundation; Patricia Grant; Paul & Betty Hagan; The Dick Hansen Family; and Janet Scalpone.
