Saturday, Jan. 29th, from 9:30 a.m.-11 a.m., families with small children are invited to Wee Play. Kids are allowed to play independently, with other kids, or with caregivers. This free play is fun and allows their motor skills, language skills, problem solving skills, and social skills to develop. Plus, adults get to meet other cool parents or guardians and enjoy some coffee and treats.

Regularly scheduled programs include the Tail Wagging Reading Program every Tuesday from 2 p.m.-6 p.m. Youth of any age are encouraged to read to Paddy the Therapy Dog at the Wautoma Public Library. Every fifth session, participants earn a reward from one of our Community Partners. Storytime with Xanthe is every Wednesday at 10:30 am. Young children enjoy a couple of stories and activities or crafts.

The library is getting a little makeover. To make the space more welcoming and enjoyable for everyone in the community, Thrivent Financial has granted the library Action Money to spruce up its walls with modern colors. The library is looking for community volunteers to help with this painting project, so if you have skills in painting, organizing books, moving shelves and want to help, visit the library to fill out a volunteer form.

New soft furniture, roll chairs, and a café table will also be added to allow for flexibility and to make library visits more comfortable and productive.

In late 2021, the Wautoma Library joined a Strategic Planning Cohort on a mission to connect with the community and to provide excellent and meaningful services. Your thoughts on its existing services, ways to improve the library, and what is missing in library services are vital for this mission. Participants in the survey have an opportunity to win one of eight $25 gift certificates. The survey closes February 20, 2022. Your time and participation are deeply appreciated.
