August is National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM)

As you get your child ready to go back to school, there is a long list of what they need to get ready for the first day. Catching up on vaccinations for your child and your family should be at the top of the list.

Vaccines available can protect against 14 different preventable diseases including measles and whooping cough as well as HPV that can cause cancer. During NIAM the Waushara County Health Department encourages you to contact your doctor’s office to schedule a well child/well adult appointment and catch up on any vaccinations.

Do you qualify for free vaccines? The Vaccines for Children (VFC) program can help get children 6 months-18 years caught up on their shots.

We also have programs to provide low cost vaccines that are not covered at your doctor’s office for adults. Contact the Waushara County Health Department at (920) 787-6590 to set up an appointment.
