Snow means drive slower

Subhead

Dear Editor,

On Tuesday, Nov. 24 while coming home from work on snow and slush covered roads, traveling what I believe to be a safe, very slow speed proved to be wrong. I ended up going in the ditch on County Road JJ, south of Richford. Lucky for me, I was not injured.

Even though it was bad weather, many people traveled the road from both directions – while I waited for the tow truck. Almost every vehicle, including an Amish horse and buggy, stopped and asked “are you all right?”, “Do you need help?” I was deeply touched by all of the folks who stopped and offered to help try and get my car out of the ditch or to wait with me.

So much kindness in our small community in these trying times. It amazed me how lucky we are, that there are still so many folks who do have consideration for others, even a total stranger. Many offered to come back later and see if I had been rescued.

It makes me very proud to live in this small country community where people still care and are not afraid to show their concern.

Sincerely,

Richford resident

Nancy Quinn.
