Accidents reported in Waushara County

08/27/2020: A two-vehicle accident occurred at 8:43 p.m. on CTHE southbound in the Town of Saxeville. The accident involved a motorcycle vs truck. Kevin Pigel, 48, Neenah, stated he was attempting to turn northbound on County Road AE from S County Road A and had observed an oncoming car traveling southbound on County Road AE, but was unaware that Shawn Engel, 53, Pine River, was in front of the car. Pigel then attempted to turn northbound from the stop sign he was at and at that time Engel had collided with the rear driver side of his truck. Pigel was wearing seatbelt and had no injuries. Engel stated he was traveling southbound on County Road AE when he observed Pigel start to pull out in front of him. When realizing this he began to lay his motorcycle down due to the impending crash. Engel had facial injuries along with road rash and declined to be transported to the hospital via ambulance.

08/29/2020: A one-vehicle accident occurred at 9:50 a.m. on Cottonville Ln. in the Town of Dakota. Richard Rhode, 47, Wautoma, was eastbound on Cottonville Lane when the left rear tire blew and he lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle went off the right should and contacted a fence post.The post was not broken, just pushed over and no damage to the vehicle. No injuries the driver.

09/01/2020: A one-vehicle accident occurred at 3:37 p.m. on STH21 eastbound in the Town of Warren. Leanna Brett, 36, Redgranite, was traveling eastbound on Highway 21 when the vehicle left roadway on the shoulder into a ditch. The vehicle hit an embankment and went airborne. The vehicle rolled approximately two and a half times and slid to a rest in a cornfield on the roof. Brett was extricated from the vehicle and did not remember anything leading up to the crash, leaving the roadway, where he was going, or what happened after the crash.

 

09/03/2020: A one-vehicle accident occurred at 8:40 a.m. on 480 Main St/STH22 northbound in the Village of Wild Rose.  Mary Santi, 76, Wautoma, was parking in a privately owned parking lot of Pioneer Pub. While attempting to park she did not stop and hit the log parking barrier and the restaurant building. She also hit a garbage can and a metal can and broke them. Santi stated she went to apply the brake to come to a stop but stepped on the accelerator instead. She stated her left arm bothered her but refused to be taken by an ambulance. Her husband arrived to take her to the hospital.

09/04/2020: A one-vehicle accident occurred on IH39 southbound in the Town of Hancock. A report of a disabled vehicle came in. The deputy arrived, with the driver being registered and owner on the scene, when exiting the vehicle and tossing a knife in sheath on trunk lid. Carlos Martinez, 58, Loves Park, IL, stated he was doing good when falling asleep and hitting a guard rail or “something back there”, and was there all night. There was heavy dew on the car, and it was cold to the touch. Martinez was southbound on Interstate 39, and operated onto the paved shoulder, and into the west ditch striking metal marker pole for the road. There was damage to the right rear and the tire was deflated.

 

09/05/2020: A one-vehicle accident occurred at 3:30 a.m. on Alp Ct. in the Town of Rose. Bryce Teresinski, 21, Neenah, was traveling westbound on Alp Ct. when he crossed the center line and failed to navigate a right turn onto 17th Drive. Teresinski ran off the roadway, striking a street sign and a wooden gate post. He then left the scene, traveling northbound on 17th Drive and contacted after the fact. He admitted being the driver and did not have a reason for not maintaining control, going left of center, or crashing. He did not have a reason for not reporting the crash. Citations were issued.

09/05/2020: A two-vehicle accident occurred at 1:46 p.m. on STH 49 northbound in the Town of Aurora. Belinda Stevens, 36, Poy Sippi, was traveling northbound on Highway 49 when Ronald Piechowski, 51, Wautoma, was slowing for a non-contact vehicle. Another non-contact vehicle was turning off of State Road 49 into a private driveway. Stevens initiates breaking and strikes Piechowski to the rear. Stevens was disabled in the roadway, blocking traffic to northbound lane. Injury possible, all subjects refused medical attention at the scene.

09/05/2020: A one-vehicle accident occurred on CTHG northbound in the Town of Mt. Morris. Deputy spoke to Ryan Schroepfer, 21, De Pere, who stated he took the curve faster than he should have. While speaking with the driver, the deputy noticed the odor of intoxicants coming from his person. Schroepfer admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages prior to driving.

 

09/06/2020: A two-vehicle accident occurred at 9:56 a.m. on Hillside Ct. in the Town of Dakota. Virginia Voight, 54, Wautoma, was backing out of her driveway. Kimberly Royston, 59, Wautoma, was also backing out of her driveway and backs with back driver side bumper into Voight’s passenger side back door. Drivers exchanged information.
