Wild Rose School Board approves musical

Subhead

Before the Wild Rose School Board entered a closed session early in the Sept. 8 meeting they heard a request for the startup of an equestrian program.

A parent pointed out that other schools have teams for the competition, and at this time the interested parties are not looking for funds from the school district, but rather use of the school name. There are presently two competitive shows scheduled for Sept. 24 and the state show held in Madison in October. The board informed the audience that the request couldn’t be acted upon at the time because it wasn’t on the agenda, but would look into the matter and possibly bring back for consideration.

The closed session involved two teachers, and when the board reconvened they approved the resignation of the MS/HS choir teacher Laura Rothe.

The board went on to approve the idea of a different style of musical – one that would include solos, duets, trios, double trios, and allowing large groups of middle school students the ability to participate as well as high school students. Skits will be performed along the way. Mikayla Mixdorf will be directing the musical.

The board went back to approving the revisions made to Policy Section 1: School Board Foundations, Governances, and Operations 1.23 – Public Participation at Board Meetings.

There was a brief report on the start of the school year, and on the current enrollment.

Chris Rosin expressed interest in attending the Oct. 20 WASB regional meeting, and other board members can also attend if interested.

The middle/high school
principal’s report included the news that four inter-national students are attending Wild Rose High School, and another will be attending soon. It was also announced that homecoming week begins Sept. 26, with the game against Families of Faith Christian Academy of Illinois being on the 30th. The dance on Oct. 1 is a sock hop at 8 p.m.

Upcoming board meetings starting at 7 p.m. include Thursdays, Sept. 22, Oct. 13 and 27, and Nov. 10.
