Village of Wild Rose approves purchasing meter readers

Subhead

The Wild Rose Village Board approved a usage of ARPA funds during a Nov. 3 meeting.

A discussion had taken place on how best to proceed with reading sewer meters. There are cellular receivers and software available to help read the meters without having to enter homes on businesses so much to read the actual usages, and the meter readers can pinpoint just where a problem may be located, such as a leaky faucet or toilet. A quote had been acquired, more may be needed, but the system is definitely costly. After consideration, the Board decided to use ARPA funds for the purpose of purchasing meter readers.

The Board had received a lengthy presentation regarding the E. coli and phosphorous levels at the sewage ponds. Alternatives are being explored for treating phosphorous levels, but they wouldn’t necessarily be a permanent solution for the level requirements the DNR keeps imposing. As for the E.coli, the village has been doing a good job with disinfecting procedures.

The cost of providing some light to the community ice skating rink, which is maintained by volunteers, was investigated. That information will be passed on to the rink managers.

The Board received plans on the expansion of the Rosetown Mobile Park, which Mike and Joyce Christianson presented. The Board didn’t need to act on it, but Doug Jirik has to keep checking on where such things as sewer lines are located through the expansion process.

An update on the village’s F450 truck and a possible replacement was given.

The Board approved a request from the Wild Rose Sno-Rovers Snowmobile Club to allow Brent Roemer to use an ATV, truck, and trailer to mark and maintain a trail on village property.

The Board also approved the renewal of the Oak Hill Cemetery CD at .30 percent for 12 months at the Farmers State Bank.

The Board received a report on planned placement of a gazebo in Roberts Park.

The Board also received news that the Wild Rose Lions Club wishes to donate a bench in Kathy Schmid’s memory.

Other than special meetings to approve the budgets to present at the December meeting, the Board will hold a regular meeting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 1.
