Village of Wild Rose approves ordinances

Subhead

The Wild Rose Village Board approved a codification of ordinances during a Feb. 3 meeting.

A public hearing was held prior to the meeting to notify any interested residents of the reorganization of all of the village ordinances. It was pointed out that the process of reorganizing the ordinances was time consuming, but it was completed. After the presentation the Board approved Ordinance 2021-01 regarding the adoption of the revision and codification of the ordinances of the Village titled “Code of the Village of Wild Rose.”

In other business the board approved the acquiring of a loan of $22,500 at 2.95 percent with five annual payments to fund the Bowmar Appraisal, LLC revaluation project.

A $150 fee charge for zoning amendment applications was also approved.

A discussion was held on the need to send out another letter regarding the garbage referendum. It will have to be rewritten, reiterating that there will be no burning of garbage allowed, and there will be no option of residents or business owners opting out of being picked up. Village Clerk Lindsey Inda will rewrite the letter and bring it back to the Board for approval before sending out.

A report was given on the latest Wild Rose Mill Restoration Committee meeting. A sample poster for raising funds for the restoration project was presented. A bid of $5,000 was received for painting by a professional, and it was thought the money could easily be raised, and the color for the outside could very well be dark red.

There are plans for having volunteers clean up brush from around the spillway in the spring. The committee is looking at putting Wild Rose Milling Co. on the sign instead of just leaving it at Rose Milling Co. Letters will be sent out to appeal for monetary donations, and t-shirts are among items being looked at for fundraising. The next meeting will be held on Feb. 17.

The Board approved the appointment of David Keller as trustee to the Library Board, replacing another trustee who moved out of the area.

The Board went on to reappoint Mark Davies for a one-year term on the Board of Appeals, while reappointing Mark Williams and Craig Szymborski for two-year terms on the Board of Appeals.

To date there are two applicants for the police chiefs’ position which will be vacant early in the spring.

The ordering of positions on the ballot for the spring election will be John Eilers, Tom Lauritzen, Mary Pilz.

The next regular Board meeting will take place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3.
