Village of Wild Rose approves loan for local projects

Subhead

The Wild Rose Village Board approved the acquisition of a loan during the Oct. 6 meeting.

The loan will not exceed $125,000 will go towards the repairing of the village hall roof, repair a dump truck, and completed street projects.

The Board also approved the appointment of Harold Hansen Jr. to fill the open seat on the Board vacated by Jody Jansen.

Resolution 2021-03 to adopt a ward plan and designate a polling place was also approved.

Tara Anderson had spoken to the Board to request a street light for the ice rink area. She recalled the fact that Stan Soltis had requested one for his new apartment building under construction on Main St. at Mill St., with the light to be at Mill St. and the alley. The Board’s response was that something could certainly be arranged, and that it certainly is needed by the rink at night.

Doug Jirik reported on the effluent phosphorous evaluation report completed by McMahon. That came out on the positive side. Jirik also reported on the state funded LRIP projects. He stated the village had to commit to another project in order to qualify for the grant money. He mentioned some possibilities, but will attend a meeting to get more information on the funding requirements. In the meantime, the street and sewer committee will meet to discuss project possibilities.

Mention was given to the $70,000+ received in ARPA funds, with there being a number of things the village can use the funds for.

A report on the mill stated an engineer inspected the building and deemed it to be very solid.

The library and community center report included the fact that everyone entering the building needs to be masked. The library is also 1 of 10 in the Winnefox system to be receiving a grant.

Trick or treating hours were approved for 3 – 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 31.

The next regular Board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 3.
