Residents address Wild Rose Village Board

Subhead

Amanda Bronk, principal of the middle/high school expressed appreciation for Police Chief Nate Klapoetke’s prescience in the schools for various functions at the regular meeting of the Wild Rose Village Board on Feb. 2. Bronk said along with Officer Lafe Hendrickson, Chief Klapoetke has made himself more visible and available at the schools.

Tara Anderson expressed appreciation to the Village for adding a light to the ice skating rink as it really added to the area. She also asked if storage could be placed at Roberts Park for storing items used during Wild Rose Days which takes place at the park. Anderson also asked if there were any special plans for the 150th celebration of the Village.

Stan Soltis reported that some of his latest apartments on Main Street are being rented out already, but he wondered about an ordinance dealing with the condition of a neighboring property. Soltis asked about another property in the village, and whether it’s available for purchase, because he’d like to set up a couple housing units there as well.

Doug Jirik gave an update on the aeration of sewer pond #1. He stated that it’d take a few months to get a product to the village to help alleviate the problem. An estimate for removing the waste would be more than $19,000. Village President Tim Ganzel told Jirik to get his committee together to decide what equipment and such is needed to do the work, and post to acquire a couple bids to get the work done. The motion to acquire the bids for the necessary work passed.

Jeff Egger gave an update on the mill restoration project. He reported that a lot of contractors don’t want to do the kind of work that is required for the repairs inside. The cost of the repair work could exceed $100,000, and hopefully grant money can be acquired. The goals for this year will be to take care of the electricity, the water, and handicap accessibility.

The order of names to be placed on the spring election ballot will be Steve Yeska, Ben Zacharias, and Harold Hansen.

Mark Davies was reappointed for a one year term of the Board of Appeals.

The next regular Board meeting will take place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2.
