The Wild Rose School Board considered an earlier start time to meetings during a Feb. 11 meeting.

The Board reviewed Policy 1.09 regarding meetings to see what needed to be done to possibly change starting times of the meetings to be held. Everyone was in agreement to start meetings at 7 p.m., and the board voted to do so.

A retirement notice from School Business Manager Diane Mrkvicka was noted, and approved to be effective in the middle of July.

The Board went on to approve Jasmine Hanson, as well as Mikayla and Zach Mixdorf as volunteer middle school track coaches.

Revisions to the 2020-2021 budget were approved.

Eighth grade graduation was set for June 1, with Board members Sandy Rockwood and Sandie Anderson participating in the ceremony. Sandie Anderson, Sandy Rockwood, and Wayne Roemer will participate in the high school graduation ceremony.

The Board was given an update on how the school year is progressing during the pandemic. Despite the number of quarantines at the present time there are only a few active COVID cases. The Costa Rica trip which was originally scheduled for 2020 then changed to 2021 was again cancelled because of the continued COVID situation. Money will be kept in the account for a future trip when it becomes safe.

Plans are underway for a different kind of prom – senior now instead of junior – with various COVID protocols and modifications being in place for the April 24 event. Thoughts of opening the fitness center to more high school students after the basketball season during after school hours until the spring sports season start were discussed.

The first semester achievement gap reduction, and the middle/high school safety reports were viewed and approved by the Board.

The second Friday Count/Enrollment Enrollment for the 2020-21 school year, and the possible staffing for the 2021-22 school year were viewed.

No action was taken on possible gifts to school district.

The next Board meetings will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursdays, March 11 and 25, and April 8.
