Wautoma Area School District approves CG Schmidt, Inc. contract

The Wautoma Area School Board met for their regular monthly meeting on Feb. 14 at Wautoma High School where board members approved the Riverview Elementary School Design-Build Contract with CG Schmidt, Inc.

District Administrator Tom Rheinheimer has been working closely with CG Schmidt along with the school’s legal counsel to ensure the contract is sufficient for the school’s needs. After some back and forth, Rheinheimer assured the Board the contract that was presented was thoroughly analyzed. With Board approval, the Riverview Elementary facility study is now underway with CG Schmidt who will go on to complete the facility study and present their findings.

The creation of a Wautoma High School Extracurricular position a FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America) Advisor was approved by the Board. Wautoma High School Principal Jennifer Johnson reported the new club has gained interest among students who are looking forward to participating in the various events, including a state competition this spring.

Johnson also informed the board about changing the English Prep 11 course to College Prep English so sophomores would be eligible to take the class. The course would be available to 10th and 11th grade students looking for an extra challenge while preparing for AP Literature and will also open up more academic options to juniors and seniors if they decide to take the course as a sophomore.

The following agenda items were approved by the board: the resignation of Wayne Anderson, Bus Driver, Lenore Williams, Riverview Elementary Program Support Assistant, Alyssa Morris, Wautoma High School Junior Prom Coordinator, Carissa Stewart, A+ After School Enrichment Leader, Patricia Arenas, A+ After School Enrichment Leader, Caitlynn Foch, A+ After School Enrichment Leader, and Hannah Jensen, A+ After School Program Support Assistant; the employment of Paige Allen, Soft, High School JV Coach; Riverview Elementary Kitchen Helper Reduction in Hours Request; Parkside School Special Education Teacher Contract Addendum; and the Revised and/or New Policies, 1st Consideration.
