Family Health La Clinica celebrates WIC National Enrollment Week Oct. 10-14

As grocery prices continue to rise in the US due to inflation, Family Health La Clinica WIC is partnering with the other WIC (Women, Infants and Children) agencies across the country to remind families of the services it provides during WIC National Enrollment Week, Monday, Oct. 10 through Friday, Oct. 14.

WIC empowers families with nutrition education, breastfeeding support, supplemental foods, and referrals to other health and nutrition services - all free of charge to those who qualify. During National Enrollment Week, Family Health La Clinica WIC will be celebrating community partnerships, provide information on WIC food packages, share a behind the scenes look at what goes on at a WIC clinic, and introducing each of their local WIC staff on social media.

“We want to let people know that Family Health La Clinica WIC is here for all families seeking support, which makes WIC National Enrollment Week so important,” said Michelle Burington, WIC Director. “Our team is ready to assist families with healthy choices and save on groceries so they can have more to spend on other things their family needs.”

Family Health La Clinica WIC is operating both over the phone and in person on the new WICmobile, Monday-Thursday 8 a.m.-5 p.m. They ask that any participants who choose to come in person to the mobile unit be free of symptoms of illness and wear a mask. Families can make appointments to see their WIC specialists; scheduled appointments may include initial eligibility assessment and certification, breastfeeding consultation, iron screening, nutrition education, and more.  Family Health La Clinica WIC recommends that you call 920-787-5514 (option 4) to set up an appointment, as clinic locations vary between Waushara, Green Lake, and Marquette Counties.

The WIC Program (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children) is administered at the Federal level by the Food and Nutrition Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The WIC program was established in 1974 to provide Federal grants to States for nutrition education, supplemental foods, and health care referrals for low and moderate-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, as well as infants and children who have a health or nutrition need.
