Caregiver reminds us to appreciate gift of love

As I reach my final month as the Alzheimer’s Association Caregiver of the Year for the State of Wisconsin, I want to express my gratitude to all who had faith in me.

My role as a caregiver has somewhat changed for my lovely wife now resides in an assisted living facility. But I say to you my friends that I will continue to do what I can to help others.

As the year comes to a close, always remember the greatest gift you have is the gift of love. Share it with your loved ones. Hold them close to you.

As I look into my lovely wife’s eyes each week I still see that sparkle of love. Cherish it. For it is the true gift you can give all year long. I say each week to my wife as she looks up at me. I say to my self: “This demon called Alzheimer’s Disease may have your mind—but I will always have your heart.”

Stay safe caregivers. Happy Holidays,
