The number of Waushara County residents vaccinated as of March 9th is 3953 or 16.2 percent of the population receiving at least one dose of the vaccine, according to Norm Duesterhoeft, Waushara County Emergency Management Director.  In the 65 and over age group the county has vaccinated 2913 or 47.6 percent.  Of those 2393 or 9.8 percent have received both doses of the Moderna vaccine.

There are appointments open at the health department for this Friday, March 12th and many other dates.  Those 65 and older are urged to call 920-787-5690 to make an appointment.

This past week the county received a total of 800 doses, 400 for first vaccinations and 400 for the second.  The county is planning for a one-day vaccination clinic where no appointments will be necessary.  Watch the Argus next week for details.  This clinic should get the county closer to the 75-80 percent of vaccinated residents for herd immunity.

As for COVID cases in the county, Duesterhoeft said that the county is doing well and there have only been seven confirmed cases in the past seven days.  Only one person is hospitalized.

“We are lucky to have a quality public health department in Waushara County with a great staff. They have been working diligently through this pandemic to serve our residents,” said Duesterhoeft.
