Wisconsin Face Mask Warriors looking for members
WIFM Warriors (aka Wisconsin Face Mask Warriors) is looking for members of the community who sew. Their mission statement is to use local community efforts to provide hand-made, non-medical grade face masks for facilities and the most vulnerable and least supported essential workers to protect them and the community from the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
Waushara County is part of Zone 6 and as of April 17, there were 2,497 new request for masks in zone 6 alone. Plainfield, Redgranite, Wautoma, Pine River and Wild Rose Libraries have agreed to have a donation container outside of their library. Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Coloma has also volunteered to be a site.
Simply access the site via Wisconsin Face Mask Warriors on Facebook for instructions for making masks. When masks are completed they can be left at the church or libraries in the labeled Rubbermaid containers. Containers were placed at locations on April 16th and have already seen results. Both Pine River and Plainfield saw donations of 10 yards of cotton fabric, Redgranite received a donation of 15 masks and Prince of Peace in Coloma had 18 masks donated.
If you do not sew, WIFM is also looking for donations of cotton materials or elastic for making the masks. They are also looking for people will cut out fabric for others to sew and drivers to help get masks and supplies from location to location. If you have any questions or need supplies you can contact the Waushara County Coordinator Diana Sadowski via phone or text at 608-745-2582 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
