Wautoma Youth Track Club hosts first youth track meet

Subhead

On June 11 the Wautoma Youth Track Club, hosted the first ever Wautoma Youth Track Meet.  Forty-four children ranging in age from 3 to 14 competed in different track and field events, including long jump, shot put, 80 and 100 meter hurdles, 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, 400 meter dash and 800 meter run.

Many of the competitors took part in the Wautoma youth track practices this spring, but there were children from different areas of the state that came to Wautoma to participate.  All of the children performed very well and finished competing with smiles on their faces.  It was a great atmosphere with children of all ages giving it their all in every event.

The Wautoma Youth Track Club appreciates those that volunteered their time on a Saturday morning to help run the meet.  Gratitude is also given to the Booster Club for running the concession stand.  Appreciation goes out to the businesses that donated the money necessary to fund the meet in purchasing the timing system, t-shirts and youth shot puts.  The businesses that donated to the meet were Parker Detjens on behalf of StoneRidge, Thrivent Financial, Specialty Enterprises, Adam Heding, Christianos Pizza, Wild Rose Dentistry and Smiley’s Feed and Bait.

The Wautoma Youth Track Club looks forward to hosting this meet again next year.
