Tri-County elementary students attend symphony

The Tri-County fourth graders attended the biennial Dorothy Vetter Memorial Educational Concert of the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra CWSO) in mid-February. 

Approximately 1,300 fourth grade students from 22 schools in Central Wisconsin were among the attendees. The concert was held in Sentry’s Theater, Stevens Point, and featured four compositions written by fourth and fifth grade students from the “Very Young Composers Project,” including Maurice Ravel’s “Mother Goose Suite,” an original composition written by UW-Stevens Point student Joey Pettit, winner of the CWSO’s Composition Competition, and the first movement of Dmitri Shostakovich’s first symphony, written when he was 19 years old.
