Information on Your Waushara County

Waushara County Register of Deeds Office

The Waushara County Register of Deeds office is responsible for examining, recording, indexing and maintaining all Land Records, Certified Survey Maps, Plat/Subdivision Maps, Military Discharge Papers and Vital Records.

On Jan. 3, statewide issuance of vital records went into effect. This advancement in technology has been a huge benefit for the constituents of Waushara County, as well as, a success for the office.

Waushara County residents may no longer have to travel to other counties to obtain their vital records for events that occurred in the State of Wisconsin. Vital record events include: birth, death, marriage, and divorce certificates. In the short amount of time that statewide issuance has been in effect, our office has seen a substantial increase in the number of vital records that we issue.

There will continue to be limitations since not all of the records will be in the state database. Births from 1994, deaths from Sept. 1, 2013, marriages from May 18, 2015, and divorces from Jan. 1, 2016, to present will be available statewide. Older records will become available as the State Vital Records office completes back scanning and indexing projects. Since there is a chance your record is not yet available statewide, we advise you call ahead of time to inquire about the records available prior to coming into our office.
