Wesfield School News
The 2014-15 school year has come to a close and the flurry of activities has ceased. I have had a few minutes to sit back and reflect on the great year we have had here in the School District of Westfield.
What is the first word in my head? Wow! Just wow. I continue to be impressed every year with the hard work and dedication of our students and staff, and this year was no exception. Here are just a few highlights:
•Westfield won the SCC Conference Forensics title for the 5th year in a row.
•All 11th grade students took part in the John Baylor ACT preparation course. While the final results of not yet been released, preliminary results show a strong increase in scores.
•Students from our Building and Construction Trades class assisted with building a Habitat for Humanity home in Coloma. This was a partnership with the Village of Coloma, which donated the property and Habitat for Humanity, which donated the materials.
•The wrestling team won the SCC Conference title for the second consecutive year.
•The Northern Lights Distance Learning program allowed us to offer numerous learning opportunities, including virtual and real time visits to the Grand Canyon and watching a live, real-time open heart and knee surgery.
