The flu season is unpredictable, and the holidays are quickly approaching. Now is the perfect time to get vaccinated. After receiving the flu vaccine, it typically takes about two weeks for protection to set in. A flu shot will provide you and your loved ones the best protection from getting sick with the flu.
Medicare Part B and Medicaid pay for the flu shots. Bring all the insurance cards you take to your physician’s office with you.
For all other people desiring the flu shot there is a cost.
Waushara County Pub-lic Health also offers the Pneumonia vaccine for people 65 or older, or those with chronic illness that puts them at greater risk for fatal pneumonia. Pneumonia vac-cine is covered by Medicare Part B and Medicaid. For others, there is a cost.
To receive the Pneumonia vaccine you must call the Waushara County Health Department at 920-787-6590 to schedule your appointment. Appointments for this vaccine need to be made by 4:30 p.m., Friday Dec. 18.
There is no deadline for flu shot appointments. Contact the Waushara County Health Department for more information, 920-787-6590.
