A trademark marketing program, Something Spe-cial from Wisconsin™ (SSfW™), is administered by the Division of Agricultural Development of the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) since 1983.
Every dollar spent on SSfW™ products supports local farmers, food processors, entrepreneurs, our communities and livelihood, as well as the Wisconsin way of life. Each dollar spent on a SSfW™ commodity is not only an investment in the state’s $88.3 billion agriculture and food sector economy but also is an investment in its future.
Any business, no matter how large or how small, may participate in the SSfW™ program. You can apply to use the Something Special from Wisconsin™ logo if at least 50 percent of the value of your product or service is attributable to Wisconsin ingredients, production or processing activities.
The annual membership year goes from July 1st to June 30th of the following year. The annual fee is based upon a company’s gross annual sales and ranges from $0 for non-profits to $200 for those companies grossing $500,000 or above. Please see the membership application for more details.
SSfW™ labeled products also enjoy a strong competitive edge with consumers, surveys indicate that over 70 percent of Wisconsin consumers are more likely to purchase a commodity made or grown in Wisconsin than one from outside the state.
Member companies gain more market exposure with the program by being listed in the SSfW™ Membership Directory which is distributed all over the state, nation, and world, as well as downloadable from the DATCP website. Members can also register to be included in a special SSfW™ section of www.savorwisconsin.com so that consumers can easily locate their products and services.
