Agriculture Drives Waushara County

Agriculture works hard for Waushara County every day. Family-owned farms, food processors and agriculture related business generate thousands of jobs and millions of dollars of economic activity while contributing to local income and tax revenues.

In 2011, Waushara County was the host for the selection of the 2011 Alice in Dairyland. One of the comments I have heard a number of times is that people didn’t realize that agriculture was the number one driver of the economy in Waushara County.

Agriculture provides nearly 20 percent of the jobs, or 1,785 jobs for our counties workforce of 9,153 people. Production jobs include farm owners and managers and farm employees. Agri-culture service jobs include veterinarians, crop and live-stock consultants, feed, fuel and other crop input suppliers, farm machinery dealers and agricultural lenders.
