Rotary District Governor speaks at Wautoma Rotary meeting

Subhead

Craig Burnett Rotary International District Gov-ernor for the Wautoma Club, spoke to the Club members about several of the key activities of Rotary. Rotary International with help from the Gates Foundation and this Rotary Club have helped to eradicate wild Polio from all but two countries in the World. With Africa just being certificated polio free with the last reported cases in Nigeria three years ago it leaves Pakistan and Afghanistan with the only active wild polio cases. In the future the methods used to distribute the polio vaccine can be used for an FDA approved COVID-19 vaccine distribution.

As we all know during this time of the COVID-19 virus, Rotary clubs across the world have had to come up with new ways to have meetings, Burnett stated using technology like Zoom has been a big part keeping meetings going. With your clubs use of both in person socially distanced meeting and Zoom, it will open up a lot of new opportunities, like having new members from around the world.

Fund raising has been one of the biggest challenges for most clubs. Burnett applauded the club on creation of the Shore Lunch. It showed that there are innovative ways to interact the public, keep the club members active and raise funds that are used both locally and internationally.

Wautoma Rotary meets every Wednesday at noon at Christianos in the second floor meeting room.  Rotary welcomes visitors and prospective new members to each meeting. Masks are required at this time.
