Barbola-Hempel Funeral Chapel is pleased to announce the Grand Opening of their remodeled facility in Poy Sippi

The former Hempel Funeral Home building was purchased by Barbola Funeral Chapel in February 2021.  The building has been a funeral home since 1954 when Ray and Louise Hempel expanded their furniture store into a funeral home.  The Hempels sold the building in the late 1960s.  In late 2018, their grandson, David, joined the staff of Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin and became an Apprentice Funeral Director.  He recently completed his schooling at Des Moines Community College in Iowa graduating in March 2022.  He will soon write his National Board Exam to become a licensed funeral director.

The extensive remodeling project in Poy Sippi began last summer and has now been completed.  The building was taken back to the original concrete walls.  A new, peaked roof and entryway was added, as well as all new doors, windows, flooring, furniture, insulation, siding, and new electrical service.  They also added a new entrance, so there are no steps anywhere in the building.  Additionally, they have also expanded off-street parking on both sides of the building.

The inside of the building has been decorated with a country theme with total comfort in mind.  The building includes an office, great room/chapel, family lounge area, lobby, rest room, and coat room. The staff of Barbola-Hempel is proud to provide a facility of this magnitude to the people of the surrounding communities for their comfort and use.

Barbola-Hempel Funeral Chapel staff is available 24 hours a day by phone at 920 987-5700.  They will hold regular office hours in Poy Sippi on Tuesday from 9-12 and Thursday from 1-4, and any other time by appointment.  Families will now be able to make funeral arrangements, pre-need funeral plans and trusts, and buy monuments all at the Poy Sippi facility.
