Accidents reported in Waushara County

8/21/2021: A one-vehicle accident occurred at 11:07 p.m. on private property in the Town of Bloomfield. Deputy was unable to make contact with driver as she had left the scene. Contact was eventually made with Alexandria Spencer, 29. Fremont, who stated she was traveling eastbound when she realized her turn was coming up quicker than expected. She applied the brakes but was unable to stop. She stated she continued straight where she ended up in the yard of a private residence.

8/24/2021: A two-vehicle accident occurred at 6:35 a.m. on CTHC westbound in the Town of Hancock. Irving Sonsthagen, 75, Greendale, disregarded the stop sign on County Road C and made contact with Matthew Schultz, 59, Waupaca, in the intersection. The contact caused Schultz to roll onto the passenger side, slide down the road, and then it came to rest in the northbound lane. He complained of leg pain but refused medical treatment. Sonsthagen did not complain of injuries.

8/24/2021: A two-vehicle accident occurred at 10:22 a.m. on 6th Ave. in the Town of Plainfield. Julian Juarez, 18, Plainfield, disregarded the stop sign and made contact with Gandor Dem, 40, Sun Prairie, in the intersection. The contact by Juarez caused Dem to roll onto passenger side and come to rest off of the roadway among some trees. Juarez came to rest off of the roadway in the same southwest corner of the intersection. Dem complained of injuries and was transported by Waushara County EMS. Juarez did not complain of injury.

8/27/2021: A two-vehicle accident occurred at 10:03 p.m. on IH39 northbound in the Town of Plainfield. Michelle Tischer, 37, Marshfield, stated she was traveling northbound on I39 when she noticed Davor Polovic, 55, Greendale, appeared to be traveling slower than her and when she applied the brakes to avoid striking Polovic she believes she hydroplaned and was unable to slow or stop and avoid striking Polovic. Polovic stated that he noticed Tischer approaching him quite fast from the rear and believed he was going to be struck. He attempted to accelerate to further the distance between him and Tischer, however he was unable to increase the distance and was struck from behind.

8/28/2021: A one-vehicle accident occurred at 6:40 p.m. on CTHAA southbound in the Town of Rose. Matthew Murphy, 37, Appleton, sweved to avoid hitting a deer and went into the ditch.

8/29/2021: A two-vehicle accident occurred at 1:45 a.m. on 129 W. Washington Ave in the Village of Lohrville. Oscar Gallegos, 29, Plainfield, had left a note with his phone number stated he had fallen asleep and hit a parked vehicle. Owner of the hit vehicle stated he did not hear anything. Oscar had knocked on the door the night of the accident but got no answer and that he claims responsibility for the crash. According to Oscar he was eastbound and fell asleep and drifted off the roadway and the right front corner contact Unit 2 in the left rear corner, which was parked off the roadway The contact forced Unit 2 to move approximately 6 feet, then making contact with a camper parked in front of it.

9/3/2021: A two-vehicle accident occurred at 9:20 a.m. on CTHH eastbound in the Town of Springwater. Susan Swendrzynski, 59, Wild Rose, and Beverly Zuehlke, 73, Hancock, were operating eastbound on CTHH. Zuehlke was traveling approximately 35 MPH when she felt Swendrzynski strike her vehicle. Zuehlke got out and observed damage to vehicle. Swendrzynski told deputy that it was her fault as she was driving a new vehicle and was trying to find the defroster and not paying attention.

9/3/2021: A one-vehicle accident occurred at 11:47 a.m. on STH49 northbound in the Town of Poy Sippi. Zachary Roberts, 21, Weyauwega, estimated he was traveling 65 MPH when he attempted to negotiate a curve and the vehicle he was pulling on a car dolly began to sway and ultimately caused him to lose control of the vehicle as the vehicle being towed swung out in from of him. The vehicle became detached from the car dolly and entered the ditch area, then Roberts entered the ditch and came to rest against a tree with the car dolly underneath.

9/5/2021: A one-vehicle accident occurred at 12:55 a.m. on CTHA eastbound. Alexis Aguilar, 20, Appleton, ran a stop sign and entered the property on the east side of the roadway, striking multiple fence posts and trees until coming to a rest.

8/28/2021: At 10:01 p.m., Renee Boos, 55, Grafton, on STH22, Southbound, Town of Rose.

8/30/2021: At 2:59 p.m., David Fields, 67, Oshkosh, on CTHW, Eastbound, Town of Mount Morris.

8/31/2021: At 6:04 a.m., Kassie Much, 40, Pine River, on STH49, Southbound, Town of Poy Sippi.
