Accidents reported in Waushara County

7/13/2021: A one-vehicle accident occurred at 2:10 p.m. in a parking lot in the Town of Wautoma. David Ludtke, 57, Fitchburg, he followed a non-contact vehicle through the Dairy Queen parking lot. He stated he NCV turned and parked in a parking space he stated he was going to go to the drive-thru and went around the NCV. He stated he did not see the light pole and drove head on into it. This caused the light pole to tilt and will have to be repaired.

7/17/2021: A two-vehicle accident occurred at 11:47 a.m. on Dearborn St. in the Village of Redgranite. Kertous Yohr, 63, Redgranite, was struck in the passenger rear tire and rear corner by Sharon Greinger, 74, Fond du Lac, who was exiting the parking lot at the Redgranite Public Library. Yohr stated she pulled out and hit them. Greinger stated she looked and did not see anyone.

7/18/2021: A two-vehicle accident occurred at 12:34 a.m. on STH73 northbound in the Town of Marion. Kyle Girdauskas, 23, Wautoma, drove off the roadway in the east ditch striking a driveway post. The truck continued in the ditch and struck a STH 45 MPH sign. The sign broke off and flew through the air striking a parked vehicle. There was damage on the top of this vehicle where the sign hit it. The sign then continued through the air northbound until it landed on the neighbors yard. The same yard had a wooden family name sign that had been damaged as well from the truck continuing in the ditch/yard. The truck continued in the ditch until it struck the cement driveway. The trucks front plow mount drove in to the ground under the cement driveway, then broke away from the truck frame sending the truck airborne over the driveway back onto STH73 northbound, then into the east ditch where it came to rest.

7/18/2021: A two-vehicle accident occurred at 4 a.m. in the Town of Dakota. Roberto Garcia’s vehicle was legally parked and was struck by an unknown vehicle. Unknown vehicle drove away with no witnesses to the event.

 

7/18/2021: A two-vehicle accident occurred at 11:45 a.m. on CTHAE southbound in the Town of Saxeville. According to Laura Reade, 20, Neenah, and Robert Donofrio, 65, Winfield, IL, and a witness Reade stopped at the stop sign. Witness motioned for Reade to go first. She pulled away from the stop sign and into the path of Donofrio. Reade stated she did not see Donofrio. Donofrio did not complain of injury. Front passenger and rear passenger of Donofrio were transported by EMS. Reade cited for failure to yield right of way from stop sign.

7/21/2021: A one-vehicle accident occurred at 2:25 a.m. on STH49 southbound in the Town of Bloomfield. Mark Buchholtz, 26, Fremont, was approaching a turn to the left. He stated he fell asleep at the wheel momentarily and left the roadway going into the left roadway. He then lost control of the vehicle as it went over a driveway and launched off said driveway like a ramp. Buchholtz then proceeded to roll at least three times striking a tree in the process before resting on the roof of the car. The vehicle sustained damage to all areas and airbags were deployed.

7/23/2021: A one-vehicle accident occurred at 8:10 a.m. on Buttercup Dr. In the Village of Redgranite. Nathan Reynolds, 38, Redgranite, encountered a deer in the roadway and attempted to swerve to avoid a collision with the deer. He entered the ditch and struck a tree/tree root causing severe damage to his left front tire. He had no cell signal to notify law enforcement of the crash and was given a ride home by a friend.

7/25/2021: A three-vehicle accident occurred at 8:52 a.m. in a parking lot in the Town of Wautoma. Jamie Woodhull, 37, Plainfield, started her vehicle and began to back out of a parking stall. She struck unoccupied Unit 2 and then either panicked and pressed the gas or the brakes on the vehicle were inoperable and not working properly which then caused her to strike occupied legally parked Unit 3.

7/25/2021: A one-vehicle accident occurred at 6:45 p.m. on CTHE northbound in the Town of Saxeville. John Vandenbogart, 23, Waupaca had a trailer with a boat when he lost control, going into the east ditch. He then over-corrected and went into the west ditch. He proceeded to go back into the east ditch and then back into the west. During this time the vehicle sustained damage to the back passenger side trailer tire and both front driver and passenger side tires on the truck. Damage was done to the wheel well on both front tires of truck and also the underside of the front of the truck as it lost a plastic shroud in the ditch. He then lost the boat in the west ditch.
