Accidents reported in Waushara County

6/10/2021: A four-vehicle accident occurred at 7:10 p.m. on STH21 eastbound in the Town of Warren. Everyone was traveling eastbound when and unknown vehicle observed a duck with ducklings behind it trying to get from the north to the south side of the road. The driver hit its brakes abruptly to avoid hitting the ducks. Kyle Halbleib, 20, Winneconne, proceeded to turn hit its brakes stopping it from hitting the unknown driver. Anthony Bartol, 59, Plymouth, was overtaking and passing the unknown SUV and Alex Anderson, 26, Oshkosh, when Bartol was merging back into his lane and struck Halbleib in the rear trailer causing heavy front end damage to Bartol. Halblei sustained damage to the back of his trailer. Anderson swerved abruptly to miss hitting any vehicles, making skid marks in the roadway. The unknown driver left the scene.

6/11/2021: A one-vehicle accident occurred at 6:05 p.m. on STH73 southbound in the Town of Wautoma. Robert Basse, 53, Coloma, was traveling south when a turkey stepped out causing him to lose control and enter the south ditch. He was thrown or fell off of the motorcycle. Motorcycle continued south until it came to rest. Multiple witnesses confirmed the existence of the turkey.

6/11/2021: A motorcycle accident occurred at 1:11 p.m. on an intersection in the Town of Mount Morris. Richard Anderson, 70, Wild Rose, was traveling south on CTH G when he began to negotiate the corner at Norwegian Lane. He used the front brake and while trying to find the foot brake for the rear wheels it was too late to slow for the corner and he entered the ditch area and went thru the ditch and ended up in the yard of a private residence. He had a laceration to his nose as a result of the accident.

6/12/2021: A two-vehicle accident occurred at 11 a.m. on an intersection in the Town of Hancock. Bobbie Zant, 54, Friendship, was eastbound on CTH C and Daniel Komasa, 39, Milwaukee, was northbound on CTH V. Zant stopped at the stop sign at CTH C and CTH V approximately two feet behind the sign and looked both directions to proceed through the intersection. Zant did not see Komasa approaching the intersection. Komasa did not have a stop sign. Komasa attempted to swerve to avoid striking Zant but still struck the vehicle. Zant also attempted to avoid being struck.

6/16/2021: A three-vehicle accident occurred at 8:20 a.m. on STH49 southbound in the Town of Aurora. Carol Gable, 77, Berlin, was following William Young, 65, Berlin, who was on a John Deere tractor pulling a cultivator along with a tank on wheels. Gable stated she signaled to turn left when she saw Gary Lawrence, 73, Pine River, who had been following Gable in an attempt to pass her and Young on a double yellow at an intersection. Gable did not see Lawrence and tuned into the side of him. Lawrence advised that tractor driver had waived him around and he did not think Gable was going to pass the tractor. Gable stated she did not see Young wave. Young advised that he never waved anyone around and that Lawrence almost struck the front of his tractor and an oncoming vehicle after the collision. Young had two visible slow moving signs and also had flashing yellow lights activated.

6/17/2021: A two-vehicle accident occurred at 6:10 p.m. in a parking lot in the Town of Mount Morris. Unit 2 was parked next to building when Daniel Carlton, 51, Baraboo, attempted to turn around in the parking area. Carlton struck unit 2 in the back driver side rear bumper and tail light causing damage to the tail light, quarter panel, and bumper. Carlton sustained a scrape with paint transfer to the back driver side enclosed trailer.

6/18/2021: A one-vehicle accident occurred at 12:44 p.m. on CTHE northbound in the Town of Warren. Suzie Fude, 56, Wild Rose, stated she was at the hospital earlier for a bite on her left shoulder. She stated she “blacked out” and woke up and she was in the ditch having hit a tree head on. The van had no skid marks, veered off into the right shoulder, and hit a tree head on with no air bags.

6/18/2021: A one-vehicle accident occurred at 10:35 p.m. on Cottonville Dr. westbound in the Town of Dakota. Jennifer Harding, 36, Wautoma, was driving when a tree fell onto the vehicle. Damage was caused to front bumper, hood, and quarter panel on the driver side. There were also multiple scratches in the paint in the aforementioned areas.

6/19/2021: A two-vehicle accident occurred at 1:35 p.m. on Center St. in the Village of Plainfield. Gerson Samayoa Argueta, 41, Plainfield, turned southbound onto S Center Street, crossing the center line and made contact with the front of Bryan Monroy, 23, Plainfield, who was approaching the stop sign at the intersection. Gerson was arrested for OWI by State Trooper.

6/20/2021: A one-vehicle accident occurred at 5:45 a.m. on CTHEE northbound in the Town of Leon. Vehicle was found unoccupied with heavy damage. It appeared that the vehicle that the vehicle was northbound on County Road EE when the vehicle made a left turn. The vehicle then left the roadway on the right shoulder and slid sideways in the ditch. The vehicle rolled over and then contacted a tree on the passenger side of the vehicle, coming to rest on its wheels. There were items inside the vehicle with the drivers name and address. Robert Moore, 59, Redgranite, was heard on a recording stating that he had crashed his truck and walked away from the vehicle. He was picked up and taken to work. He was contacted and stated that he was getting a cigarette when the crash happened. DOT showed the driver’s status to be suspended. Opened alcohol and containers with liquids were found inside and outside the vehicle.

6/11/2021: At 3:45 p.m., Rebecca Hall, 36, Cashton, Intersection on CTHA A, Eastbound, Town of Saxeville.

6/15/2021: At 9:01 p.m., Mark Knaebe, 67, Madison, on IH39, Southbound, Town of Plainfield.

6/16/2021: At 9:33 p.m., Heather Spiering, 34, Kaukauna, on CTHA, Eastbound, Town of Bloomfield.
