Accidents reported in Waushara County

2/22/2021: A one-vehicle accident occurred at 5:14 a.m. on 6th Ave in the Town of Plainfield. Ashley Jaramillo, 29, Plainfield, was operating on snow covered roads was pulled into the ditch by large snow drift/ice hump in the road causing damage.

2/25/2021: A one-vehicle accident occurred at 4:21 p.m. in a parking lot in the Town of Leon. Deputy responded to the report of a truck and excavator that had gone through the ice on Pearl Lake. Deputy arrived as the vehicles were being pulled out. Deputy learned that the company was doing shoreline work and using the frozen lake for access to the job site. Ronnie Dupre, 29, Neshkoro, broke through the ice and then they used the mini excavator which was a Cat model to try and lighten the load causing the excavator to fall through the ice. All subjects were uninjured. The DNR was also notified of the incident.

2/25/2021: A two-vehicle accident occurred at 5:16 p.m. on E Division St in the City of Wautoma. Paul Jarvis, 32, Wautoma, was traveling eastbound while Patrick Carew, 83, Eau Claire, was westbound. Carew was pulling into oncoming traffic and Jarvis struck him in the eastbound lane.

2/25/2021: A one-vehicle accident occurred at 9:57 p.m. on STH49 southbound in the Town of Bloomfield. Deputy responding to a reported hit and run crash and came upon vehicle in ditch. The vehicle appeared to have driven southbound in the northbound lane (wrong side of road) for a period of time, then drifted off into ditch, striking mailbox and entered the ditch. Vehicle spins out in ditch. Located William Sanders, 38, Waupaca, lying face down in bush/tree line approximately 100 feet north of where vehicle came to stop. Deputy was able to follow foot prints in snow to drivers final location. Sanders was arrested for WI drugs. Deputies agreed this vehicle was the same involved in prior hit and run.

2/25/2021: A two-vehicle accident occurred at 9:57 p.m. on STH49 northbound in the Town of Bloomfield. Colleen Post, 43, Menasha, stated that William Sanders, 38, Waupaca, was traveling southbound in northbound lane. Post had to cross over into northbound lane to avoid collision. Sanders struck rear passenger side of Post and left the scene. Sanders was later identified due to another unrelated crash.

3/2/2021: A two-vehicle accident occurred at 2:30 p.m. in a parking lot in the City of Wautoma. Mary Clark, 78, Wautoma, backed out of a parking space and stated she was backing up and the sun which was low in the sky blinded her and she could not see the legally parked vehicle of Thomas Recore, 39, Wautoma. The vehicle was unoccupied and legally parked.

3/3/2021: A one-vehicle accident occurred at 2:10 p.m. on private property in the Town of Saxeville. Kristin Zastrow, 22, Redgranite, stated that a southbound large black pickup was partially in her lane of travel. Zastrow swerved to avoid the oncoming vehicle. She left the roadway on the right shoulder and went into the ditch, making contact with the utility pole on the front passenger side before coming out of the ditch and coming to a stop on a Saxeville road. A downed wire caused a small grass fire. Zastrow was not cited, the other vehicle had left the scene.

3/3/2021: A one-vehicle accident occurred at 8:30 a.m. on 425 Silver Lake Rd. in the Village of Wild Rose. Shanda Juday, 52, Wautoma, was negotiation a curve on an icy road. She stated that the vehicle spun out and made contact with the address number post for 425 and the mailbox for 45- County Road GH. She stated she would make contact with the property owner.

3/6/2021: A one-vehicle accident occurred at 2:36 p.m. on CTHXX southbound in the Town of Aurora. Josue Rodriguez, 33, Berlin, was operating southbound when passenger Ernesto Vasquez, 31, Montello, grabbed the wheel. The vehicle veered off the road into the west ditch striking a tree. Both occupants were intoxicated with open intoxicants in the vehicle. Driver was revoked and did not have an ID installed. Both occupants were arrested with additional citations issued and explained. Passenger transported to ThedaCare Berlin and driver later transported from jail for injuries.

3/8/2021: A one-vehicle accident occurred at 9:35 p.m. on CTHWW northbound in the Town of Mount Morris. Robert Kempfer, 68, Wild Rose, swerved to avoid a deer in the roadway, crossed the centerline, entered the west ditch, and struck a tree.

3/12/2021: A two-vehicle accident occurred on an intersection in the Town of Leon. Waushara County Sheriff’s Dept. notified of crash by School District of Wautoma bus garage at 6:56 hours, but had no information on bus nor driver and had to call back. When calling back they informed that bus driver Brent Malnory, 52, Neshkoro, had stopped on County Road EE, completed stop boarding eight students, and then backed up to make right turn west onto South Pearl Lake Road. Malnory did not see gray SUV behind the bus and backed into SUV. Malnory spoke with driver of the SUV, Christian Waldhart, 83, Redgranite, at the scene. Malnory and Waldhart exchanged information. Both vehicles left the scene. Deputy photographed dam-age to Waldhart’s vehicle once called and later gathered information at the school district’s bus garage. and will forward bus video.

3/3/2021: At 12:41 p.m., Tamara Simons, 57, Wild Rose, on STH22, Northbound, Town of Springwater.

3/9/2021: At 6:45 p.m., Steven Wildt, 59, Wild Rose, on STH22, Northbound, Town of Wautoma.
