Kendall Gustke organizes district-wide fundraiser and raises over $1,500

At the Wautoma Area School District Board meeting on Nov. 11, Parkside Principal Deb Premo told the board that 7th grader Kendall Gustke, the daughter of board member Brian Gustke, took the initiative to organize a hat day fundraiser to raise money for the wife of a bus driver that was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Premo stated that she expected Kendall to only raise a couple hundred dollars, but over $1,500 was raised.

The Board approved the resignations/retirements of the following staff: David Woyak as Football Head Coach, Nathan Miller as Girls JV Basketball Coach, Jessie Gibson as the Girls Grade 7 Basketball Head Coach, and Guadalupe Ayala as Crossing Guard.

The following staff members were approved for hire: Nathan Miller as the Boys JVR Basketball Coach, Brittanie Mastricola as the Girls JC Basketball Coach, Jacob Mathias as the Spring Play Director, Penny Meek as the Advisor for the High School Future Business Leaders of America Club, David Woyak as the High School Football Assistant Coach, Corrine Margalski as Middle School Destination Imagination, Kevin Clark as the Boys Middle School Track Head Coach, Cheryl Bragg as a Substitute Bus Driver, and Dianna Parrott as an A+ Summer Camp and Spring Break Coordinator.

•SY2019-20 Category B. Field Trip: West Salem Girls Basketball Holiday Tournament.

• New Course Proposal: CAPP-Students with Disa-bilities in General Education, 1st Consideration. This would be a half credit for high school, but it would count as a three-credit college course at UW-Oshkosh. There would be a $300 cost for the course, but the school was considering reimbursing the students if they do well in the course. They are considering offering the class in the Spring, but most likely it would be next year. It would be offered to Juniors and Seniors only.

• New Course Proposal: Introduction to Marketing, 1st consideration. This would be a one-semester, business elective course to start during the 2020-21 school year.

The next regular monthly Board meeting will be held on Monday, Dec. 9 at 5:15 p.m. at the Wautoma High School Library.
