Walk - the - Waush concludes with Bannerman Trail 5K

Posted

“Adventure Awaits” as people embarked on the Bannerman Trail 5K run/roll/walk.  It was a beautiful day to participate in the Waushara County Walk-the-Waush event, which was held over Labor Day weekend on Sept. 5. Hikers took off at the trail entrance across the street from Wild Pines Coffee, in Redgranite, on an in-and-out course.

This event was the last event of the summer walk challenge. The Public Health Department, in partnership with the Ice Age Trail Alliance and ThedaCare, made this challenge possible again this year. The challenge is free and open to walkers, runners, and hikers of all ages and abilities. In addition to the walk challenge, the County has other events to help our community improve our overall health and fitness.

Find the Mammoth and a Treasure Hunt are just a few additional activities the Waushara County Public Health Dept. offers to our Redgranite community.

Jennifer Pulvermacher is the County Health Educator.  Along with Jennifer, Carl and Julie Mesman, Ice Age Trail coordinators, and Kristen Jones, the ThedaCare coordinator, put in many hours to bring this event to our Redgranite community.

In addition to fitness, you also learn about the trail, hiking etiquette, and safety. Bannerman Trail has a unique history. The trail is seven miles of hiking, biking, and horseback riding. The trail follows a former Chicago and North Western Railway corridor. See for yourself; there is plenty of beauty and wildlife on the Bannerman Trail.
