Wild Rose lost to Rosholt 0-3 on Sept. 21

Despite some good volleys and great plays, the Wild Rose Ladycats dropped a three game match to Rosholt Lady Hornets in Sept. 21 Volleyball game. First year Wild Rose coach, Kayla Clapper, remarked “The girls fought hard tonight & they should feel proud of that,” she goes on to say, “It was a tough match, and we learned a lot. I’m excited for the next match.”
The visiting team, Rosholt Hornets, got off to a 9-1 start during the first game of the night. Abbie McCardell put up 2 consecutive points to cut the deficit a little for the hosting Ladycats early on. The Hornets kept increasing their lead with two point runs. Natalie Rink put in a 3 point service run for a 20-8 Rosholt lead. The game ended with a 3 point service run for a 25-11 win for the Rosholt Hornets.
The second game started with a 2-0 service run by Rosholts Gracie Casper, but Wild Rose answered back with a 5 point service run, putting Wild Rose in the lead with 8-3. The visiting team produced a 4 point service, resulting in a 8-8 tie, followed by a 3 point service run from Payton Skortz of the Rosholt Hornets. Addi Gagas added a 3 point service run for a 16-10 Rosholt lead. Wild Rose kept fighting, Cali Havlovitz put in a 2 point service run, allowing the hosts to close the gap, 18-22. Rosholt finished the second game with a 25-19 win.
The third game started off with Rosholt taking the lead 3-0. The points started racking up for the visiting Hornets quickly giving them a 19-10 advantage. The Wild Rose Ladycats didn’t make it easy for their opponents, and managed a 2 point service run for a 17-22 deficit. Rosholt came through with another 2 point service run gaining them the win 25-18 in the third match.
Wild Roses’, Lily Luchini, gathered 8 service points and 2 aces, while Abbie McCardell made 5 service points and 6 assists, Ella Tratz topped McCardell with 7 assists, Cali Havlovitz remained on defense and led Wild Rose with 18 digs. Luchini had 12 digs, 3 kills, and 2 blocks. McCardell and Emica Marquez added 3 kills each of their own.
