The Lady Hornets had a very productive night on Sept. 19. Wautoma High School hosted their Bleed Orange Fundraiser as well as their Youth Night. The WHS Booster Club & Volleyball parents teamed up to raise money for their Volleyball program. Parents of the VB program & local businesses were generous enough to donate raffle baskets & baked goods for the event. Final Cut was also in participation with providing t-shirts for the fundraiser. WHS sweetened the entry deal for fans in which they would gain entry to the match, a shirt, raffle tickets, and a baked good. While the match was taking place, there was a fifty-fifty raffle.
The fun didn’t end there, in conjunction with the fundraiser, it was also the celebration of WHS third annual Youth Night. Middle school teams were invited after their own home matches, along with kiddos from the Summer Youth Camp, to the Sept. 19 match.
Coach, Tynae Philips, expressed how important Youth Night is, because WHS wants to highlight the future athletes of the volleyball program, and improve their skills. Philips remarked on how the high schoolers loved working with the campers during the summer, and they were very happy to have the youngsters in the stands on Youth Night.
In addition to the two events, high school senior, Brianna Buechner, reached a career milestone of one-thousand assists.
The Hornets went on to win their match against the Nakoosa Papermakers 3-1. Overall a busy but rewarding night for the WHS Volleyball team.
