The Tri-County Lady Penguins kept the crowd on the edge of their seats during an amazing second half comeback game against the Nekoosa Lady Papermakers on Dec. 21. The Lady Penguins were down 29-12 at halftime, but were able to bring themselves back in the second half for a 48-46 win.
“Our defensive pressure forced tough shots second half, our offense got better, and the girls believed in each other to help pull off the victory,” quoted head coach Cole Walters, “I’m super proud of the girls, how they never quit and believed they could still win even when down 17 at halftime.”
Skye Hopkins led the Lady Penguins to victory, scoring a game high of 27 points with four 3-pointers and 3 of 5 free throws.
Courtney Bauck put 11 points on the board including one 3-pointer.
Emily Lauer and Makenna Rettler each scored 4 points followed by Zoriah Mill with 2 points. Tri-County Lady Penguins are now 2-6 overall this season. Girls’ basketball action will resume for the team on Thursday, Jan. 4 at Wild Rose.
