The Westfield Pioneers were able to rise above Montello’s Hilltoppers for a 63-46 win.
First on the board was actually the Montello Hilltoppers. It did not take long for the Pioneers to kick it in gear for a first period lead of 34-22. Westfield was nailing the 3-point landings. The Hilltoppers seemed to be struggling with rebounds, however Montello was very aggressive on the court in offensive plays.
Top scores for Westfield on the court were: Junior Sam Berruecos-Morales with 22, Junior Hector Moyotl at 8 and Junior Keegan Hockerman for 7.
Second period had the Pioneers continuing to grow the lead by nearly 20 points while the Hilltoppers gained ground with the press and upping their defensive strategies.
The final score went in favor of a Westfield win, 63-46.
Top Pioneer players were: Junior Sam Berruecos-Morales for 21 points, Junior Keegan Hockerman at 15 and Austin Lyon at 11.
