Lady Penguins scoop up close win in season opener

The Tri-County Lady Penguins hosted the Marion Lady Mustangs during the double-header girls/boys basketball games on Nov. 28. The game kept fans on the edge of their seats, with Tri-County scoring a close 31-29 win in the final minutes of the game.
Skye Hopkins led the Lady Penguins by scoring 22 points with seven 2-pointers, one 3-pointer and 5 of 7 free throws. Makenna Rettler added 7 points of her own to the board, included one 2 and 3-pointer, and 2 of 4 free throws. Zoriah Mills and Courtney Hildebrandt each put up 1 point and Amaiyah Colon added 2 of 2 free throws of her own.
The Tri-County Lady Penguins are starting their 2023-24 season with a 1-0 record.
The Lady Penguins were set to face off against the Nekoosa Lady Papermakers on Dec. 5 and will move on to play Pittsville at home on Thursday, Dec. 7.
