Linda L. Peterson, 70, of Coloma passed away Thursday, February 15th, at UW Health University Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin with her family by her side.
Linda was born to Robert and Lois Happersett in Berlin, WI on January 1, 1954. During her childhood years in Redgranite, WI, she worked as a waitress at Happ’s Restaurant and Dairy, which was owned by her parents. She graduated from Wautoma High School in 1972. Linda married Gary Peterson on September 4, 1976 and enjoyed 47 years of marriage. Linda and Gary owned and operated three restaurants in Berlin: The Deer Stand, Town and Country and Pete’s on the Square. Linda was known for her friendly smile, her generosity, and her delicious food made from scratch. She also dedicated 27 years to the Berlin Walmart as a manager of various departments. Linda loved her two beautiful daughters and was active and supportive in their sporting events and activities as they were growing up. She enjoyed traveling to South Dakota and various casinos, playing Bingo, and entertaining family and friends at their lake home in Coloma, WI. Linda was truly a strong and selfless woman whose impact will be forever felt by her family. The family is grateful for her medical heroes Dr. James Runo and NP Amy Chybowski and the University of Wisconsin Hospital medical staff for their care and compassion. A heartfelt thank you also to extended family and friends for their prayers and support over the past seven years.
Linda, a loving and devoted wife and mother, is survived by her husband, Gary, her daughters, Krista of Plainfield, IL and Jennifer of Green Bay, WI; her four brothers Thomas Happersett of Neshkoro, Brian (Barb) Happersett of Salmon, Idaho, Robert (Linda) Happersett of Lohrville, and Clay (Vicki) Happersett of Berlin; Aunt Jean Monecelli of Redgranite, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Per Linda’s request, no funeral or memorial services will be held. There will be a celebration of life on Sunday, February 25 at the Berlin VFW Hall located at 420 N Wisconsin Street from 1-4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations/registrations may be made to the 2024 Wisconsin Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma Walk (Upper Great Lakes Chapter) that will be taking place on June 29, 2024 (World Scleroderma Day) in memory of Linda’s Legacy.
