Joan E. Schwartzman, age 87, formerly of Hancock, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2023 at Thedacare Wild Rose Hospital.
She was born July 12, 1936 in Burlington, Wisconsin the daughter of Raymond and Eleanor (Zunker) Scherbarth. She married Wayne G. Schwartman on November 25, 1954. He preceded her in death on January 23, 2020. Joan grew up in Denoon. In 1978 she and Wayne moved to Hancock where they enjoyed raising their children, purchased Goodwins Grocery Store which they operated for a number of years and she worked for Tri-County School in the kitchen and later at Waushara County Commission on Aging until her retirement. She truly enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grand‐ children.
She is survived by her children, Denise “Dodi” (Fred) Graebel, Wayne Jr. (Debbie) Schwartzman, Kerry (Anita) Schwartzman, Jeff (Janine) Schwartzman, Randy (Jody) Schwartzman; grandchildren, Kyle, Wendy, Karen, Amber, Jacob, Chase, Autumn, Brandi, Collin, Eric, Tyler, Brittani, Hayden, Ashton; her 21 great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles “Chuck” (Sandy) Scherbarth; further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by, two sons, Gene and Robert, her grandson, Kelly Wayne and two great-granddaughters, Kyleigh and Ezlyn and her sister, Judy.
