James C. Fazen, age 76, of Wautoma, WI, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, January 14, 2024.
He was born April 20, 1947 in West Allis, WI; son of Robert and Betty (Blodgett) Fazen. Jim graduated from West Allis Central High School in 1965. Following high school, he attended UW-Stevens Point graduating with his bachelor’s degree in teaching. Jim furthered his education by attending Carroll College in Fond du Lac where he received his master’s degree in administration education. He began his teaching career at St. Francis High School and became their cross county / track coach. In 1976, Jim took the St. Francis Mariners Cross Country team to state, earning them the title of WIAA state champs. He moved from St. Francis to the Plainfield area and continued his teaching and coaching career at TriCounty High School for over 20 years, retiring in 1994. On November 11, 1994, Jim married Christine Bertotto at their home in Plainfield. He loved to cheer for his favorite sports teams, the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Bucks, and the Wisconsin Badgers. Jim enjoyed running before having back pain, reading and writing.
He will be deeply missed by all of his loving family and many friends. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 29 years Christine “Chris” Fazen of Wautoma; his daughter Lori Fetterer of Sheboygan; three grandchildren Indigo Beilfus of Milwaukee, Sydney Fetterer of Sheboygan, and Kovol Fetterer of Sheboygan; two brothers Robert (Lynn) Fazen of Myrtle Beach, SC and John (Janet) Fazen of West Allis; two brothers-in-law Paul (Jeanette) Bertotto of Plainfield and Michael (Andrea) Bertotto of Chilton; three sisters-in-law Pamela Jakubiak of Duluth, MN, Patricia (Daniel) Hutkowski of Plainfield, and Laura Bertotto of Plainfield; his former wife Maureen Fazen of New London; his fur babies Lucy and Bonny; and also by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Betty Fazen; a brother Matthew Fazen; and a brother-in-law Brian Bertotto.
A Memorial Service for Jim will be on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 12:00 Noon at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Almond, WI. Pastor Richard Bartholomew will officiate. A visitation will be held on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the church.
